BIOGRAPHY
Logan Larson (b.1994) is an award-winning classical music composer, vocalist, EDM producer, and educator who resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received his D.M.A. in Composition at the University of Miami (’21), M.M. in Composition at the University of Kansas (’18), and B.A. in Music at Luther College (’16). He primarily studied composition with Brooke Joyce, Forrest Pierce, Dorothy Hindman, and Lansing McLoskey, but also studied with George Lewis, Melinda Wagner, Christopher Theofanidis, and Tania León during their Distinguished Composer in Residencies at the University of Miami. He has recently taught as a lecturer at Mississippi State University.
Larson is an extremely active professional composer with a specialization in choral music, art song, and the development of a new genre that combines classical music and Electronic Dance Music (EDM) with various combinations of instruments and fixed media. He has been described as a “raw creative force few minds can match” (Buzz Music). Commissions and performances of his works have been done by GRAMMY nominated string quintet Sybarite5, the Iowa Composer’s Forum, University of Kansas Symphonic Band, Mississippi State University Percussion Ensemble, Duo Sequenza, and individual musicians. His music has been performed across the world in cities such as Toronto, Canada; Trieste, Italy; and Queensland, Australia. A 17-track album entitled “The Monster You Made”, exclusively of his compositions, was released on the GRAMMY nominated label Bright Shiny Things’ affiliated label, Imaginary Animals in September 2023. Larson has received grants from the Mellon Foundation for a commission for Duo Sequenza. He has earned music production awards from the Global Music Awards in 2026 where he won a Bronze Medal for Production/Producer for "The Monster You Made" Album. He was a finalist for the 2022 American Prize in the Band division. He was awarded Second Place in the 2019 Civitasolis Composition Competition for “The Devil Is Out To Play” for reed quintet, and Runner-Up in the Donald Sinta Quartet 2016 National Composition Competition with “Ideal Unbalanced Perfection” for saxophone quartet. He has received publication contracts from North Star Music and Murphy Music Press.
The build and release of tension is a primary source of inspiration behind the creation of Larson’s playful melodies and hypnotic rhythms. His instrumental works are known for the incorporation of classical music elements with more contemporary music techniques found in genres such as Electronic Dance Music, Hip-Hop, and Rap.
